Aniela Tyksinski works as a Community Advocate at Sarah’s Inn. Weekly, on Mondays and Tuesdays, she partners with and shares an office at Taller de José to provide domestic violence services to community members for whom Taller de José is a safe, accessible, and trusted location. Last time around, she was still getting settled into her role and new life in Chicago, but she was so inspired by all the incredible runners who ran for Taller de José in the 2019 Bank of America Chicago Marathon. This year, she will be taking the leap and hopes to run all 26.2 miles together with Team Taller and with her partner, Juan.
“I run for Taller because I truly believe in the work that they do, and, although I am not one of their staff, since the beginning, I have felt so warmly welcomed as a part of the team. I have learned and grown from my partnership with Taller, and I realize how fortunate I am to collaborate with another organization that values and practices both compassion and respect for every person that walks through their door or reaches out for help.”
