I started my work as a Compañera at Taller de José in September 2020. As a Compañera I have been able to help clients find resources in the community and provide offsite accompaniments. Due the pandemic there is a need for financial assistance, and thanks to the Taller de José COVID-19 relief application we have been able to help clients who have been affected by the pandemic.
A couple of weeks ago I had a phone intake, and the client informed me that due the pandemic she had lost her job and her husband was only working 2-3 days a week. This made it hard for them to keep up with their mortgage payments and they were behind on their electricity bill as well. After hearing the client’s story, I knew immediately that they were eligible for the Taller de José COVID-19 relief application.
I went ahead a filled out the application with the client and in the end Taller de José was able to help her pay her mortgage and electricity bill. Being able to help this client and hearing how happy she was when I told her that her application was approved made me feel so proud of the work that Taller de José was doing.
