This past year Taller de José partnered with the Loyola University Center for Experiential Learning to conduct community research in collaboration with a group of student Community Research Fellows and community members with whom we work. This research sought to answer the question that is so central to the lives of so many people in our community: Why did you migrate, and why did you stay?
Over the course of a year these students had the privilege of sitting down with 7 community members to hear their stories. Through these interviews they were able to develop narratives that highlighted the struggles, joys, and challenges that are so central to the immigration stories of these community members.
We are so thankful to have been able to partner with these students to add to the larger narrative of immigration in our country and shed some light on these individuals and their powerful personal narratives.
