Taller de José has been a trusted community organization since 2008. Originally in Little Village, and now in Gage Park, we have helped nearly 12,000 of our neighbors overcome obstacles. With over 160 trusted community partners, we offer guidance and access to the resources and assistance our clients need. Through personal attention, TDJ helps clients find their way through the complex social services system. Each team member listens to clients to assess the services they need and then accompanies them to find those resources. The mission of the Taller de José is to accompany individuals, serving as a bridge to connect them to the health, legal, and social services needed to achieve their goals. As a member of the Congregation of St. Joseph Mission Network, we create more connected communities.
The Compañero/a provides case management, which we call accompaniment. This role is a direct service position and provides support to mostly Spanish-speaking clients. Taller de José takes a holistic approach when assisting clients. As a Compañero/a, you will listen, assess, and accompany clients — emotionally and physically to help them access the resources and services they need to reach their goals. Research, problem-solving, and making referrals are essential components of the role. Offsite accompaniments often include going with clients to medical appointments, court hearings, immigration interviews, or a government/social service agency. This role reports directly to the Program and Intern Coordinator.
