Our services are completely free thanks to generous donations. We do suggest donations to help support our work—typically $10 per page for translations and $50–60 for accompaniments—but giving is optional and never required.

Yes! All of our staff are bilingual and speak both English and Spanish.

If you submit a form or leave a voicemail, we will respond within 1 to 2 business days. We appreciate your patience and look forward to connecting with you.

Appointments can take place over the phone or in person at one of our locations.

No, we are not lawyers, so we cannot give legal advice or handle legal matters directly. However, we can refer you to trusted legal professionals and organizations that can help, as well as accompany you to file paperwork at the Daley Center and assist in gathering documents.

No. Because we’re not lawyers, we cannot represent you in court or in legal proceedings. But we can accompany you to provide emotional support and help you navigate the process.

Accompaniment is optional! If you prefer, we can meet you directly at your appointment as long as it’s within the Chicagoland area and reachable by public transit.

No. We do not offer driving or shuttle services, and our staff cannot provide transportation in personal vehicles.

No. Our staff cannot ride in private vehicles with clients for safety and liability reasons.

If you prefer not to take public transit, you’re welcome to:

  • Meet your Compañero/a at the appointment location, or
  • Use a rideshare service (e.g., Uber, Lyft)—this is allowed because a third-party driver is present.

Yes, we are able to cover the cost of public transportation (CTA only). We are not able to pay for rideshare services such as Uber or Lyft.

We can accompany you anywhere that’s accessible by CTA. To ensure we make the best use of our time together, we recommend destinations within about 45 minutes of our main office.

We are not licensed social workers, but our staff provide basic case management services and support similar to social work, including handling caseloads and helping connect clients to resources.

Our main office is located at:

5533 S. Sawyer Ave, Chicago, IL 60629 (St. Gall Parish campus)

Parking is available in the lot around the building. To enter, follow the path through the metal gate facing the school, ring the doorbell, and someone will assist you.

We also have appointments available at:

  • The Quinn Center of St. Eulalia (Maywood)
  • Agnes of Bohemia (Little Village)

Note: Appointments at these satellite locations must be scheduled in advance.

No. We serve clients from all backgrounds and all areas—there are no restrictions based on zip code, immigration status, or affiliation. We also offer over-the-phone appointments.

We commonly translate:

  • Birth certificates
  • Death certificates
  • Marriage certificates
  • Divorce decrees
  • Letters and personal statements
  • We review other documents on a case-by-case basis.

Suggested donation: $10 per page.

Generally, no—courts require their own certified interpreters, and we are not certified to interpret in official legal proceedings.

However, we can accompany you for emotional support and to help you navigate the process. We’re also able to:

  • Assist with connecting to Zoom court hearings
  • Help you request a court interpreter ahead of time

In rare situations, if a court interpreter is delayed and a judge requests it, our Compañero/as have been asked to assist informally. However, this is not guaranteed and should not be relied upon as official interpretation.
