YEARS
OF EXPERIENCE
Taller de José is a Safe Haven where you are welcomed with open arms, become their priority, are treated with empathy, respect and professionalism. TDJ is where wholehearted companionship never ends.
Accompanying others as God accompanies us is the most basic tenet of our faith. Taller de Jose is the gold standard of that tenet.
They treated me as a person. Coming here, they treated me with love, honor, and respect.
To me, they are like my family. They have helped me a lot, given me support, and told me to keep moving forward. I’ve felt very comfortable with all of my appointments.
Taller de José has been a great help to our family. We have always received great support from the compañeras since day one, as well as the reception staff who have been like angels in our lives. Thank you for taking the time to listen to us and take our suggestions into account. Thank you [for] doing an excellent job.
What our neighbors & community partners are saying
The opinions of those we serve and work alongside are very important to us. We are grateful for their kindness and encouragement.

What Is Accompaniment?
At Taller de José, accompaniment is at the heart of everything we do. Accompaniment means walking alongside others with compassion, humility, and deep respect for their unique journey. It’s not just about providing support—it’s about being fully present.
Whether someone is facing a court hearing, navigating immigration paperwork, attending a medical appointment, or simply needing emotional support, our Compañerxs are there. We accompany—not to lead, but to walk with, listen, and empower.
Meeting You Where You Are
When you reach out to Taller de José, you are connected with a bilingual Compañerx—someone trained not only in navigating systems, but in the art of compassionate listening. They begin by hearing your story, without judgment, and helping you define your goals.
Empowering for the Future
True accompaniment fosters growth and confidence. Over time, our clients often become more empowered to advocate for themselves. And our Compañerxs grow too—each walk deepening their understanding of service rooted in compassion.
Walking Together
Your Compañerx will physically accompany you—to the doctor’s office, immigration hearings, social service agencies, or court. They may serve as an interpreter, an advocate, or simply a supportive presence during an overwhelming experience. But accompaniment goes beyond logistics. It’s about showing up with care and dignity, walking with—not ahead of—you on your journey.
Why It Matters
Complex systems can be overwhelming. Whether it’s language barriers, unfamiliar processes, or emotional strain, facing those systems alone can feel impossible. Accompaniment makes the difference. It creates space for people to breathe, to be heard, and to move forward with dignity.

Walk With Us: Become a Monthly Donor
Will you support our work by becoming a Monthly Donor? This world is lonely, confusing, and complex, especially when English is not your first language. Help us to continue to serve as a bridge to resources. Your consistent monthly gift will help us walk alongside our neighbors with dignity and care. Each gift helps our team to provide:
- safe accompaniments to vital appointments by offsetting the expense for Ventra Cards and Ride Share.
- support for individuals who are on their path to citizenship.
- a listening ear and problem-solving to find answers and much-needed resources for our clients.
- training for the next generation of compassionate leaders.
Our goal is 25 new monthly donors! Please help us accompany the growing number of our most vulnerable neighbors by giving a recurring gift. Whether it is $10 a month or $100 a month, your support will provide us with consistent revenue to ensure we can meet the growing needs.
